The "Kiva Krew"

Our most active Kiva nurturers, day in and day out...

Dennis, a.k.a. "Dr. D" - Dr. Dennis Raney, N.D., has been a member of the board of directors for Kiva since 2000. He has expert knowledge in naturopathic medicine and holistic healing. He also holds and shares his vast knowledge of herbal and nutritional health to all "sincere seekers of personal growth and healing". Dr. D has dedicated his life to helping others experience optimum health through personal and individualized plans that encompass improvements to their dietary habits, along with the introduction of complete, organic and wholesome nutrition. Dr. D also places a strong emphasis on balanced and reasonable, fun and natural physical activities to round out the "health equation". His vast contributions to the development and growth of The Kiva Connection are immeasurable. He lives and works with his wife, Sharron (also a doctor of naturopathic medicine), in Dallas, Texas and was among the first to ever step foot on Moon Ivy Hill, Kiva's charter location in western New York.

Wren, a.k.a. "Ms. Kiva" - Wren Owens is the founder and CEO of The Kiva Connection, devoting most of her days and nights to whatever needs to be done for Kiva. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, with a 20-year career history in film and television, today she lives at the retreat facility full-time and cares for all of the animals. She maintains the grounds, trails, signs and out-buildings, sometimes with the help of volunteers. Wren is the program director for The Kiva Connection and coordinates all activities and fundraisers. Wren has been practicing metaphysics since 1986 and is class-taught in Christian Science (not "scientology"). She has also studied native american shamanism with Dr. Caryl Steiner of Buffalo, New York. Wren is an artist, as well, specializing in clay and bronze sculpture with an emphasis on the nude figure. She is also a poet and songwriter and in 2003 released album of 12 of her original songs, self-titled "Wren" ... sold to benefit The Kiva Connection.
