The relationship between humans and their environment...
Neith made bat houses for Kiva
Human Ecology stresses the evolving ecological consciousness with respect to how one becomes engaged in service to the Earth while simultaneously learning and living in harmony with all creation. A commitment is underway - to establish a balanced existence between nature and man - by participating in community-based recycling programs; by building meeting places and retreat cottages made only of the materials indigenous to the area; through the use of non-toxic materials and construction methods to create the healthiest possible environments; by using renewable energy systems, like fuel cell technology, and the sun and wind for powering water pumps, illuminating solar flashlights and lanterns, and booting up computers.
The value of conservation, and the demonstration of the understanding that we need not take more than our fair share share of this earth to live - and to live amply - helps to heal our communities, our wetlands, deserts and forests - not to mention our souls.
"We survive together, or not at all." Society, on a worldwide scale, is finding this out. "We" includes our animal neighbors. "We" includes the whole system of life forces - plants, animals, planets, the elements - and human beings. No one is more important, or more dispensable than another. We seem to be discovering this more clearly every day.
The Kiva Connection is a 100% volunteer and donor supported association. Your contributions are critical to our mission's success and to our ability to care for the land and animals that bless Kiva visitors. Donations are also vital to the development of more retreat cabins and therapeutic programs for sincere seekers of personal growth and healing. Thank you, in advance, for your thoughtful support!
